Winx Club - The definitive ranking of all the transformations - part 2
The Winx Club ranking saga continues! Unlike Fate
Hey again, Gworl! Welcome back to the Fort. We are, once more, ranking all of the Winx Club transformations featured in the main show. Let’s restart the Winx Club transformation music playlist and dive right in! Or rather, fly right in.
This post will only feature transformations ranked 5 to number 1. If you have missed the first part of the ranking, with numbers 10 to 6, you can read it here. As I’ve mentioned last week, we are only going to be ranking the Winx Club transformations that have completely original outfits. Power-ups like Charmix, Sophix, Lovix, and Crystal Sirenix aren’t included because they add elements to already existing ones.
Please know that these rankings are purely based on my opinion and are created to be fun.
5.Harmonix
Harmonix appears in season 5, alongside Sirenix. Believix from season 4 is not as effective in water, and the Winx can’t obtain Sirenix before they complete a quest which takes place under the sea. Because of that, Harmonix is given to them at the start of said quest as help with their underwater tasks.
Can we talk about these dresses? The crowns, the trains, the heels – Harmonix makes the Winx look like sea goddesses and I am here for it! There’s so much elegance and magic in these looks. I really love the pastel colours of dresses and their elegance. Flora’s might be my favourite because the skirt looks like it was made of flower petals which resembles her power. Unfortunately, that personal touch is missing from everyone else’s Harmonix dresses.
The Winx truly look ethereal with Harmonix. This transformation looks way more like an ancient power of the ocean than Sirenix does. It should be the main transformation of the season. Even the wings look better, though that’s not really difficult to achieve. Granted, they all look very similar, with Tecna’s being the exception. If each Harmonix was different from each other, had a bit more sparkle, and pizazz that’s present in the earlier transformations, it could have been the perfect ocean power.
Sidenote: Tecna looks so pretty in Harmonix! This doesn’t match her usual style but she does look beautiful.
The Harmonix transformation sequence is pretty. I like the start when the Winx are surrounded by flowy fabric or magic which then becomes their dresses. After that, it starts to be generic. Before they get wings, a skirt appears on top of the dresses shown in the picture. The skirt then disappears after a few moments without changing anything about the dresses. I can’t figure out why it is there, but okay. It’s not a major problem, it just confuses me.
Oh my Dragon, I adore the transformation song! I play it very often and I think it’s even better than the Sirenix one. I’m very surprised it’s not talked about more often. I love the pop rock sound of it, it takes me back to the 2000s music era and it’s so fun and breezy. It immediately puts me in a better mood whenever I listen to it. Perfect.
4.Bloomix
Bloomix is the primary transformation in season 6 of Winx Club. All of the Winx fairies lose their powers during battle, except for Bloom since hers come from the Dragon Flame, which can’t be extinguished. To restore her friends’ magic, Bloom gives them each a piece of her Flame, hence the name.
The name Bloomix is the biggest problem I have with this transformation. It doesn’t come from Bloom herself, it comes from the fire of the Great Dragon. Why couldn’t it have been called something inspired by that? To make matters worse, Bloom calls it out when the Winx transform and it makes her sound narcissistic.
I really like how the outfits are designed, despite the name. They look like warriors, though I wish there were dragon-related elements incorporated into the designs. Each outfit is unique to its respective Winx, along with the wings. My favourites are probably Flora and Bloom. I love Flora’s entire outfit; the floral elements on her bodice and shoes and the skirt made of petals. She also has the best hairstyle. The braids in her hair, combined with the diadem, make her look elven and mystical. I love it! Bloom looks like she merged with the Great Dragon to an extent. I love the scale-like elements on her outfit. She also has my favourite Bloomix wing design.
Aisha is my third favourite. The top part of her outfit looks like armour and it makes her look even more badass than she already is. I also love her hairstyle! Honestly, I don’t have many critiques for the Bloomix design. I just wish Stella’s hair was styled differently. Her skirt looks like a sheet of fabric wrapped around her waist. I wish it was more intricate.
Tecna has my least favourite Bloomix. I like the idea of her outfit, but I wish the top part of it had more details. Where the other wings get a lot of details, her outfit pales in comparison.
The transformation sequence is nice. It doesn’t stand out as bad nor great, but I think it’s better than most of them from the Nick era. As for the song; I personally don’t like the chorus much because of the repeated “Bloomix takes you high, Bloomix, play the game together, Bloomix….” It turns me off from listening to the song by choice. That part still gets regularly stuck in my head.
3.Believix
Season 4 of Winx Club features Believix as its primary transformation. The Winx earn it once Roxy truly believes in them. This most likely means that any fairy who is in the presence of this belief can earn it.
Season 4 is very nostalgic to me, however even I can say it’s far from perfect. If I was ranking only the transformation outfits, Bloomix would have easily been above Believix. The reason it is not lies in the song, the transformation sequence and the name. Thankfully, it’s called Believix and not Roxix.
The outfits of this transformation are pretty, but they are not better than the season 3 Enchantix outfits. Where Enchantix gave the girls clothing which made them look more mythical and high-fantasy, Believix makes them look pedestrian and urban. It feels like a downgrade.
The wing designs are my favourite part of Believix. Each Winx fairy has wings which are distinct and represent her. They are full of detail and their shapes all differ from each other while still being cohesive. The hairstyles are also very nice. I love Bloom with braids in her hair, as well as Flora with her hair down to her boots and her signature bangs.
The Believix transformation sequences each start in a way that’s unique to each fairy’s power. Aisha’s starts with water enveloping her while Musa’s starts with her dancing across tiles that light up. The uniqueness continues as they transform. The animation of the sequence is also slower and more fluid than in later transformation. This allows for more time for the viewer to actually take the beauty of it in, as opposed to the ones from season 5 and onwards, during which the girls move rapidly, only pausing at the end.
I know all the lyrics to the Believix transformation song. It is incredibly fun and uplifting. From the very first second, it grips me and makes me want to dance and sing. Both the English and the Italian versions are amazing to listen to when I’m having a bad day. The echo on the Bridge provides a nice break from the higher energy of the verses and chorus, along with the vocals which are isolated more from the instrumental. I played this song so much that I need a break from it currently, but I’m sure I’ll get back to it sooner rather than later.
2.Magic Winx
Magic Winx is the transformation featured in the first season of Winx Club. As such, it is the first form most fairies get. During the second season, it is featured in combination with the accessory called Charmix. In the Nickelodeon dub, said accessory doesn’t exist. Thus, the Magic Winx form is named Charmix instead.
This transformation is where it all started and I have so much love for it. The outfits are simple, but they work. They are a beautiful starting point for what is to come and they are both magical and fashionable. Not every outfit is heavily customised to fit the fairy, but it doesn’t need to be. It is apparent what Flora’s, Musa’s, and Tecna’s powers are even without much fanfare and detail.
I could argue that Bloom’s power isn’t shown through her outfit because it is a mystery for much of the first season. However, the tiara on her head hints at her royal heritage, and the stone on her chest could be a hint to her source of power – the Dragon Fire or the Dragon Flame.
Aisha’s and Stella’s Magic Winx outfits don’t seem to contain hints to their powers, other than the colour of Stella’s. Instead, the animation of the transformations, along with the wings of some fairies, attempt to fulfil that role.
The designs of the wings are iconic. Once again, they say a lot without being heavily decorated or stylised. They are subtle. Stella’s wings are shaped like Sun rays, while Tecna’s are geometrical and mimic the look of a hologram. Flora’s may be missing from the final frame of her Magic Winx transformation sequence, but they are petal or leaf-shaped.
The transformation sequence fits the Winx really well. Bloom’s clothes appear as if brought into existence by fire, while Stella’s appear to materialise out of pure light. Elements tied to music are present through all of Musa’s Magic Winx sequence. Once again, Aisha is the only one where the representation of her power lacks. Since her power source was changed a few times, this could possibly be due to no one knowing what it exactly is in season 2, but I can’t be certain.
It took me a while to appreciate the Magic Winx transformation theme song. To me, it feels like it is composed of multiple different parts that don’t fully go together, but yet they work to create a whole story. It feels like an introduction to the story, like a song in a musical, more than a theme song. However, nowadays I play it quite often and I enjoy it.
1.Enchantix
Enchantix is the transformation featured in the third season of Winx Club. It is earned when a fairy makes a great sacrifice by saving someone from their home planet. In order to graduate from Alfea, as well as become a full-fledged fairy, earning Enchantix is required. Before season 4, this power was regarded as the final transformation.
Nothing will ever come remotely close to Enchantix. It truly looks like the final fairy form. It feels like whoever earns it becomes one with their power source, truly mastering it and communicating with it. The outfits are the perfect blend of modern and high-fantasy fairy fashion. They are distinct and tailored to fit each of the Winx.
I really love the bottomless sandals that the fairies are wearing. These shoes are not made for walking, so it feels like they don’t need to. They are above the ground and in the sky, they are flying and don’t have to concern themselves with the things low-level fairies do. The long gloves also give them a touch of elegance. The tiaras make them seem regal. Overall, it’s the little details that make the Enchantix fairies feel untouchable and ethereal.
The wings are flawless, as well. Once again, distinct and created perfectly for each fairy. They are detailed and unique. Tecna’s wings are a mix of futurism and fantasy, Stella’s are colourful and intricate just like her fashion sense and personality, Aisha’s look like high-fashion dragonfly wings because of the association with water.
As for the transformation sequence; unsurprisingly, I love it. It doesn’t feel rushed. The girls take their time transforming, and they do so very elegantly and effortlessly by making very relaxed movements. It feels like it comes easy to them and they don’t have to try hard to be powerful, iconic, and have the viewers’ attention. The transformation sequence is the definition of stage presence.
The Enchantix theme song matches every other aspect of this power. Right at the start, it grips the listener and lets them know that something powerful is about to happen. The vocals are perfect and so is the melody. I prefer the Italian version over the one in English because I feel like the lyrics aren’t as strong in the former. I listen to the song A LOT and it still gets me emotional and gives me confidence when I do, even after all these years.
I cannot even pick a favourite… I love this transformation so much.
That brings us to an end of my very objective ranking of Winx transformation. I won’t be taking any complaints, you’re welcome. Okay, I’m joking. You are welcome to drop your own list in the comments.
