In The Pillowfort.

Bratz items that I was obsessed with

Categories: Animation, Bratz

This show had some scorchin’ furniture and clothing!

It’s time to visit Stylesville! Today in the Fort, we’re talking about all the iconic pieces of furniture and clothing from the Bratz TV Show. Put the Forever Diamondz soundtrack on and let’s get window shopping like it’s 2006!

Lips-shaped sofa and phone

If there was a single motif that represents Bratz, it would have to be their lips. They’re iconic and instantly recognisable. I’ve definitely heard them being referenced in several songs. So it only makes sense that the first entries on this list are the iconic lips-shaped sofa and phone!

This sofa is the physical manifestation of the word slay! It made Salvador Dali’s sofa in the shape of Mae West’s lips relevant to my generation. Does it look comfy? To me, not too much. I’ve always pictured it as a velvet couch and I usually don’t like that texture on them. It also looks very stiff in the show, as it does not move when it is sat on. That was probably because the animators couldn’t be bothered with that detail, though, which is justified.

With all that in mind; does the comfort level matter to me in this case? Nope. I’d still sit on that couch and take a few pictures. I wouldn’t buy it for myself, though.

Contrary to the lips sofa, I would very much like to own this phone! It looks so iconic and quintessentially Bratz. It makes my 2000s inner child happy. The shape of the phone makes it a bit impractical, I cannot imagine it would be comfortable to hold, but I don’t mind. Just owning this phone would be enough to make a statement. The Bratz TV show is the definition of camp and its furniture proves it. This phone is dramatic, stylish and maybe, probably functional. It’s everything. Look how great it looks when Sasha’s using it!

Pink spy pumps

Burdine and the Tweevils are the antagonists to the Bratz pack, but they had their iconic moments. One of them were the pink pumps which are actually 0he words of Burdine herself: “They have spikes for climbing, microphones for eavesdropping, hidden bungee cords for- ” While she gets interrupted before explaining the function of the bungee cords, we can fill in the blanks. And of course, the pumps also function as a boomerang.

I remember being so fascinated by these high-tech pumps when I was a kid. There was something about gadgets which look like ordinary objects that was appealing to me. There still is, lowkey. Imagine walking down the street and instead of moving around the building that’s in front of you, you seamlessly continue walking up its wall because your shoes have spikes, and bungee cords in case you fall. That is, if gravity allows you to continue standing in those shoes while climbing. No matter the reality of their use, I like these shoes.

Forever Diamondz Rollin’ Runway

Speaking of objects which transform; here’s the runway truck from the movie Bratz: Forever Diamondz. The show said: “Transformers, but make it fashion” As seen on the picture, the truck transforms into a runway with a press of a button, and it is equipped with LED screens, lights, and an audio system.
Is there anything more glamorous than parking your truck in some random park, have said truck transform into a catwalk, and then strut down it like there’s no tomorrow? There probably is, but not in the Bratz universe. The design of the truck itself is quite nice. I like the shade of red that was chosen for the base colour; it reminds me of Rock Angelz a bit, which keeps the branding of the dolls and the show cohesive.I also really like the Forever Diamondz graphic which runs along the truck’s sides. The artwork for the Bratz dolls is either a hit or a miss for me. This one is not only a hit, but also probably one of my favourite Bratz artworks ever. This whole movie is probably my favourite Bratz movie. Also, the truck gets bonus points for the Space Angelz outfits shown on its screens.

Personal essentials spy kit

During the Bratz: Go to Paris movie, the girls team up with Byron Powell and become spies. They each get a “personal essentials kit” which includes some neat gadgets. Let’s take a closer look at them.

As shown in the images above, the kit includes a lipstick which doubles as a transmitter, a compact mirror which is actually a communication device with a monitor, a concealer that is used for writing invisible messages on hard surfaces, sunglasses which reveal those messages, and a GPS device. The Bratz also get rocket boots and platforms.

I’ll admit, the Totally Spies energy is totally obvious, especially since the gadgets are distributed by a British man in both shows. However, Bratz is a show which dabbles into multiple other genres every-so-often, but always returns to its usual teen comedy in the end. Two shows with kick-ass spies who use makeup-themed equipment can exist.

Once again, we are presented with high-tech gadgets posing as ordinary objects. Naturally, I ate it up as a kid. I have always loved the spy subplot in the Bratz show, as it showcased these strong girls kicking villain butt while looking glamorous and stylish. It was everything I wanted to be but wasn’t allowed. I loved the contrast of spying, which was seen as highly masculine, being done with such an unapologetic feminine power.

That’s it for today. Thank you so much for coming with me as we travelled to Stylesville in the Fort! I hope you have enjoyed the visit. I truly love Bratz and I loved sharing my thoughts on these scorchin’ itemz with you! If you want to share your opinions with me, feel free to do so in the comments. Until then, byeee!
